Preschool Information

Preschool is Monday through Friday throughout the school year and runs in half-day sessions. There are morning and afternoon sessions. There are some Wednesdays in which there is no preschool during teacher development sessions. See school calendar for these dates.

Morning and afternoon busing is provided on the Carroll Community and Kuemper bus routes. Noon bus transportation is provided for students within the Carroll Community School District.

KuemperCares Wraparound Program for Preschool and Optional Kindergarten
Kuemper's childcare program KuemperCares offers what they call Wraparound. This is a half-day program that wraps around the child's class at Kuemper. It is a great compliment to Kuemper's half-day preschool and optional kindergarten classes. It also alleviates parent's worries about finding transportation for their child in the middle of the school day, especially for families that live outside the school district!

If you are discerning where to send your child, please schedule a tour. You will not be disappointed! This can be arranged by contacting Susie Hulst at or 712-792-3313.

2019-2020 Registration

Because Kuemper participates in the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SVPP) with Carroll Community Public School District (CCSD), all registration is handled by CCSD.

Registration is now open for the 2019-2020 school year. Please visit the CCSD new student registration web page and follow the directions there to register your preschooler.

Back to School Timeline

August is an exciting time for preschoolers and parents! Here is some information that is helpful, especially for new families.

1-2 Weeks Before School Starts
Teachers will receive their class lists from Carroll Community School District 1-2 weeks prior to the first day of school.

1 Week Before School Starts
Teachers will contact their class families to schedule a home visit. Home visits are something all preschool teachers in the state of Iowa do. This is a chance for the teacher to visit the child in a familiar setting and get to know the student's family better.

A Couple Days Before School Starts
There will be a preschool open house several days prior to the first day of school. This is an opportunity for parents and students to visit their teacher and classroom and drop off their supplies. Preschool teachers will notify families of this date.

First Day of School
The first day of school for preschoolers is Tuesday, August 27th.
