Long Range Strategic Plan Goals

Every five years, under the leadership of the Diocese of Sioux City and Kuemper's school board, long range strategic goals are formulated and approved by Kuemper's committee's and school board.  The last strategic planning took place during the 2016-2017 school year, with the goals being approved in Spring 2017.  The major goals for the next five years under each committee area are as follows:

Catholic Identity

  • Increase parental involvement
  • Explore hiring of Campus Minister for student programs
  • Explore hiring of Catechetical Director for staff, parents, adults
  • Build Kuemper as a central hub of faith formation for students & adults
  • Support the Ministry 2025 parish pastoral process
  • Promote awareness & visibility of vocations
  • Improve integration of faith across all curriculum areas

Leadership & Governance

  • Begin annual orientation & increase on-going training for school board
  • Hold annual Town Hall Meeting & report on strategic plan
  • In collaboration with the Kuemper Foundation, continue to build awareness and lobbying efforts for school choice programs
  • Create a school Vision Statement and review school’s Mission Statement

Academic Excellence

  • Provide supports for academically diverse educational experiences (i.e. Talented and Gifted, Individual Education Plans, English Language Learners, etc.)
  • Enhance and continually improve our comprehensive professional development for teachers in the areas of faith and academics, including the implementation of Professional Learning Communities
  • Integrate objective and formal data into curriculum decisions - (i.e. K-8 reading curriculum supports, continued development of researched-based Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports for all grade levels, etc.)
  • Explore hiring of an Instructional Coach or Lead Teachers
  • Expand Dual enrollment options for high school students

Marketing & Enrollment Management

  • Continue to build tuition assistance fund
  • Explore a 2nd northern bus route
  • Explore 3-year old preschool
  • Explore expansion of 4-year old preschool
  • Build cultivation and welcoming efforts of Latinos and other minorities
  • Establish a Parent Ambassador program to welcome new families


  • Prepare a 3-5 year financial projection
  • Enhance and increase teacher salaries
  • Review financial implications of one campus operation

Buildings & Grounds

  • Research with data the pros and cons of one campus operation
